I might be going south in a few weeks. I have an opportunity to work for FEMA cleaning up some the mess Katrina left in MI and NO. Pay is like $500-$1000 a day, so that makes me happy. They're estimating there is 4-5 years of work that needs done, so I have no idea when I'll be back. Making that much, I'll probably pick up a laptop and post from that. But just in case you guys don't here from me for a while, that's where I'll be.
Of course you will be missed here. You're like at least 15% of our active posters! Your position will be ensured when and if you return though. BearNotes and it's administration is proud to have members serving it's country during this time.
Seriously though - that's some good pay AND a good chance to help people out that could really use it right now. Good luck on your trip, and it would be great if you could post and keep us informed of how things are going down there. If you think you'll be able to post much info, let me know and I'll create a biard just for you and anyone else that wants to keep us informed of the situation, lest we all forget about the south and move on with our lives. We have to move on of course - but we also need to remember that we're still in recovery - and will be for many years
dude, thats so totally not fair. i've been working my but off to get my unit to let me go down, after all on my ako they said if we wish to volunteer all we have to do is take it up the chain of command. but, no one has said a thing to me about it and there seem to be so many other people headed that direction to help out. its not fair.
of course i guess it has been a holiday weekend and someone emailed me on friday and said they would get more info to me. maybe i should just be patient......but i really wanna help.
