I signed up for a dorm already for next year. But it looks like I'm going to get a house with my buddy for next year instead. What do I do to break the Housing Contract.
I don't really feel like searching around on the site for an hour to find out what to do.. Thanks for your time.

fyi, the breakage process can be a major expense/pain-in-the-ass. it was for me at least, though i managed to break mid-year (after arguing my case in front of micheal vanfossen). not sure what kind of trouble they'll give you if you attempt to break before school starts. i know that as soon as you sign the contract, it is legally binding. the breakage for me costed 250 total, as well as quite some time gathering reference and confirmation letters from my roomates, parents, and landlord together. feel free to contact me with any specific questions - i sure do hope they dont feed you the BS they tried to feed me.
oh and btw, should you be successful, you probably won't regret moving off campus. good luck.

From SMSU Department of Residence Life bulletin
". . . you will need to submit written cancellation by June 1, 2005, in order to receive a refund on your deposit. If written cancellation is received after June 1, 2005, the housing deposit is forfeited.
You must submit written cancellation before the Student Housing Contract goes into effect on August 19, 2005, at which time the contract becomes active and binding regardless of lack of requirement to live on campus."
Yes, if you cancel after the 19th you are breaking a legally binding contract, which will be a hassle and probably cost you. If you cancel it before then, there should be no problems.
