Forward Operating Base Speicher's force protection cell developed the informant's tip, and Task Force 1-18 scouts conducted a raid in Sequor to kill or capture the suspected car-bomb maker.
The suspected insurgent was detained, and the scouts confiscated 2.5 million Iraqi dinar, $3,000, a 9 mm pistol, detailed strip maps of the forward operating base, plastic explosives and a car that was rigged to be what military officials call a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device.
Today I read a report (A/59/165 Part II) from the General Assembly regarding nuclear proliferation in the Middle East. Although I expected the report to cover the overall scope of the issue, it singled out Israel in the first section:
What's the deal? Why does the UN feel it's necessary to repeatedly launch attacks against Israel?"(b) Reaffirmed the importance of Israel's accession to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation on Nuclear Weapons and placement of all its Agency safeguards, in realizing the goal of universal adherence to the Treaty in the Middle East (para. 2);
(c) Called upon that State to accede to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons without further delay ..."
