Man, 88, kills nursing home roommate

WILTON, Connecticut (AP) -- An 88-year-old nursing home resident was charged Monday with killing his roommate by hitting him with the footboard of a bed.

John Tamkun was arraigned on charges he killed 82-year-old Thomas Mullen at Wilton Meadows Health Care Center.

Police said Mullen was found lying motionless on the floor and that Tamkun quickly confessed he was responsible for the death.

The body was discovered shortly after midnight Sunday, Sgt. Wayne Dengler said.

Tamkun was being held Monday night on manslaughter charges.

Maybe Sam should just take away Post Counted rankings. Perhaps the only way your ranking SHOULD go up is if you contribute to the site, or you've just been around a certain amount of time. That'd kill off some of this ridiculous "POST COUNT +2346089234690238 ROFFLEWAFFLE!" bullshit.

I thought it was humorous and interesting, considering that many students on campus have roommates. Are you going to make snide comments about everything I post?

I'm making an attempt to be nicer on this board. How about you put away your negativity? If you don't have anything nice to say, don't reply.

Or maybe you could just not post worthless crap? If you post news, don't just post a link and an excerpt. We should just disable post counting for certain users.

What you think is worthless is your personal opinion. Others may find it interesting. Try not to be so judgemental and negative all the time.

If you post news, don't just post a link and an excerpt.

It's not an excerpt, it's the entire article.

We should just disable post counting for certain users.

Feel free. I'll still post items which I think are interesting or funny. I'm not posting these things to up my count, I'm posting them because I thought they were interesting and other users might enjoy them.

What's the difference? Either way he has to make a post, either way he gets a post count++. I think someone around here is a little insecure of his size!
