Cellular Users, Respect Those Around You

Post by Chreteau »

Yesterday I was sitting in a library reading a book and enjoying my lunch. Although I had headphones on and music playing, I couldn't help but overhear the cellular conversation of the girl sitting across the room. Make that three conversations. That's right. In a library, in a quiet study area, this person chose to make three telephone calls with complete disregard for those around her.

Why has it become acceptable in society to make or receive calls where ever you happen to be, simply because technology makes it possible? Remember the good old days of telephone booths? The doors closed, you had a nice seat to sit on, and most of all your conversation was kept private.

With cellular technology being so advanced, and becoming more advanced every day, is it really necessary to shout into your phone? Have you gone deaf, or is it the person on the other end?

If you must be in constant contact with your friends, family members, fellow students or business associates, do the world a favor and keep your voice down. Better yet, step outside and give the rest of us a break.

"To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices." Mark 12:33

No. :( The closest I've come to talking in a telephone booth was that Colin Farrel movie.
