what a ringing endorsement, yeah, I agree, I don't wanna have to drive to the Queen every time I wanna waste 50 bucks on gambling. Seriously, if people have a gambling problem, their gonna do it whether the have to drive to Tunica or St. Louis, Boonville, whatever.

Also, I don't care where the money is going, tax revenue is a good thing. I don't care what yer Bible says. Rockaway beach is a hole, have you ever been through there? They gotta build an ass load of new stuff just to put the boat in. It's common sense, and by the way, in almost 90% of places that have a gambling boat, the crime rate has gone down or stayed the same, with the exception of vegas and At. City. Rural venues like Metropolis and Boonville haven't had any problems with the boat, it's done nothing but help. I think those odds are pretty good. Jobs and a great place for Sketchy to gamble.

That's assuming they DO give taxes to the city (or whatever else)... the riverboats in Kansas City are supposed to give money to schools and stuff and I don't think they do. Cheapskates....

And I thought you said in the other post you didn't have any money, SolidDave. You said you can't afford a movie... how are you going to afford gambling?

uh, that's not up to the riverboat, they get taxed by the state, the state/local government decides where the money goes, not the riverboat. No one gets out of paying taxes except churches, the IRS sees to that, look at what those Mafia guys get busted for, TAX EVASION. Thats the one wrap that Mafia guys can't get around, so trust me, the tax money goes somewhere, maybe to grease sqeaky weels, but the money gets handed over.

I can't, I used to be able too, and I may well be able too again, and in addition, all those slots are computer controlled on a network for pay outs and percentages, all digital, all needing a computer tech guy, it's a job opputunity for me assuming that no one in Rockaway Beach is a huge ass computer masta/guru....*cough*. GO AMENDMENT 1!

Haw! I didn't register either. This is like the first election I've missed in years. Fuck it.

I wanna play some poker, and get comp drinks while doing so.

Before I decided to go back to school, I worked as a PI for about 4 years (the last two in Missouri). I had to go to Rockaway a few times on surveillance. You're right, it's a shitole. I hated working cases there. The people of that town need something to pull it out of the downward spiral.

Too many Bible Beaters here said no to it, and of COURSE Kansas City and STL said no because that takes away from THEIR gambling tourism.

But that's not what pissed me off anyways. 72% of voters voted Yes on Amendment 2. GOD DAMN BASTARDS. :x

Hey I voted yes on everything, except for the power plant that CU wants and Amendment 2. But hey, that's what you get for living the Bible Belt.

Missouri Voters Scare Me

Post by rkl464s »

The fact that the voters in Missouri cannot understand that a thing like a riverboat in Rockaway Beack, MO will not hurt a thing is just plain scary! Unfortunatly the people who got the amendment on the primary ballot should have gone for the election in november. there would have been a much better voter turn out. there is usually less turn out for primaries therefore if nothing was done to show kc and st louis that they should go vote on the issue, they aren't going to do it.

I have a feeling this is not the end of the issue (at least i hope its not). I will keep voting in favor of the boat until it passes.
Smile :-)
