Hard Physical Labor
On my floor, the bathroom door was broken and had to be replaced. It took 5 people nearly 2 hours to replace the door. Maybe its just me, but that seems a little crazy.

That's really sad. I remember a couple years ago when I lived in Freddy, one of the guys kicked someone elses door in and busted the locks up, so the doors no longer locked. They put in a work order, several weeks went by, they called and questioned and complained - still no new door. Then they decided what was the point in having a door if it didn't lock anyway - so they just took the door down and threw it out in the woods somewhere, and hung a sheet over the door way. It still took them almost a week to get them a new door, but at least that way they finally got it!
I am happy to say that I think they FINALLY, after 2 years, fixed the front door to Wells! 'BOUT freakin' time! What ever happend to this "24/7 maintenance" That res-life used to brag about?

Well I can tell you apartments aren't much better. For the first 4 months that I lived in my apartment I asked them kindly to put in a smoke detector and to fix our half bath. They did absolutely nothing about it until my roomate went down there and threatened to bring the firemarshal to fine them $300 if they didn't get us a smoke detector. They finally came the very next day. How come asking nicely with please and thankyou no longer works? Instead you have to threaten some with a fine before anything ever gets done. What a sad sad world this has turned into.
"I'm the Princess and your not...any questions???"
Hey I love my apartment.
My upstairs neighbors were playing a loud guitar a few weeks ago, so my landlord called them for me and they stopped. When I moved in, I had trouble hooking up my dryer because the plugs didn't match... she sent someone up to replace the plug and hook the thing up for me. Just this week I asked if she would fill in a couple nail holes in the wall because I hung up something crooked and wanted to try again. She sent the maintenence guy up and not only did he fill them in but he painted to entire wall!
So, not all apartments have such slow service. Just Tiffybirds's!

I wasn't saying that you were an idiot, just someone who couldn't handle confrontation even to the mildest degree, asking your neighbor to turn his music down. I guess it can be both.Sam wrote:Doh, why won't the phone dial when I type in three numbers?!?! Paco help me, I think my phone is broke...you know about these technical things, right?!

actually in that situation not many people would take a person serious like that. i know most people if you went up to ask them to quiet down they would laugh in your face. now if you send someone with more athority to do the job than something will actually get done.

You watch too many things made by Hollywood if you believe that. If your neighbor is playing something incredibly loudly at an unreasonable hour, they'd more than likely much rather hear from you asking them to turn it down than have the landlord come. It's only going to make them more likely to do it again.tiffybird24 wrote:actually in that situation not many people would take a person serious like that. i know most people if you went up to ask them to quiet down they would laugh in your face. now if you send someone with more athority to do the job than something will actually get done.

Honestly, why does it matter how the problem is dealt with. Tiffany has a point about some people not taking you seriously unless you're a person with real authority - and the people that would be curteous enough to turn it down anyway would often understand someone calling the desk or whoever has the authority. Besides, why should I get up, get dressed, and go trapsing around when that's what other people are paid to do for me. It's not necessarily even about being confontational.
