Motorcycles..............

Post by kevin_100 »

In a couple of years, I'm planning on trying my luck at riding motorcycles. They look so fun to ride. Yes I know a person can get hurt or killed on one.

First of all, I weigh 160 lbs so big bikes are out of the question for me. A big bike to me, in my mind as of right now is anything higher than a 400cc.

I'm thinking a 125cc is a good size engine to look for on a bike. But also, I want the sporty ninja or aprilia look. I want the bike to look real cool, and sporty. I'm the type that don't particular care for the harley davidson look. The street bike image is just not me.

Also, I would most definitately like for the clutch to be automatic. I would like it for myself to put the bike into gear, shift one time or however it works and just give 'er gas and I'm going down the road.

Anybody have any suggestions for somebody interesting in learning to ride a motorcycle. Also does anyone have any suggestions for a sport bike that I should take a look at.

By the way, I have rode bicycles. Most people that I ask about learning to ride a motorcycle says, well, first you need to learn how to ride a bicycle. Kind of a smart ass answer, but whatever. Those people exist in the world and there is nothing we can do about them except move on and forget they even exist.

Anyway, any information you can give is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

By the way, I'm not looking for speed, just something that looks cool (sporty), automatic clutch, and has a engine of no greater than 250cc, preferably 125cc (for starters).

Dude, don't get an automatic. That's just...sissy style. It's not that hard. I've rode 2 motorsycles in my time, both times I kind of wrecked (they were funny wrecks for everyone except me.) I'd like a bike somedays just for the nice parking.

The main reason for getting the automatic first is to learn the form of how to ride one. Once I get really good at controlling the bike, I would go up to the next step which would be learning how to use the clutch.

I have some pretty cool ideas on how the bike should look. First, like I said, I want the ninja, aprilia sporty racing look, but I don't want the 150 mph speed. 80 and 90 mph is as fast as I want the bike to go, because I don't want to be tempted. Next, I would like for the bike to be painted competition orange with blue racing stripes, or a hot fluroscent yellow body color with blue stripes. Or another cool color would be a green grass type of color with a lighter and hotter green color as the stripe color.

The color of the bike is probaby going to have to be seperately done, but that is no probably as long as the body of the bike can be painted, thats cool.

There are some bikes, particular street bikes (harleys, panheads, etc....) that a person can really only paint the gas tank and I dislike this, I want people to notice how sexy my whole bike is and not my gas tank, or engine. I looked at stuff from a whole.

Anyway, does anyone have any riding tips for a beginner rider?

The reason I'm asking questions about motorcycle riding in this forum because I see quite a few motorcycle riders around the campus, so I imagine there are a few experienced riders on this forum.
