internet radio

Post by BeerMePRN »

good internet radio: any recommendations?

sitting here at work, needing some good tunes, forgot my CDs at home.

damnit.

it's gotta be something halfway work-appropriate, if possible. and i've gotta be able to easily access it with windows media player. cuz it's all i'm allowed to have on this computer.

been hittin up accuradio and bostonpete.com lately, mostly bigband/swing/jazz and sinatra-type stuff. they tend to kick ass, but can definitely be very monotonous. looking for something along the lines of alternative/rock, something to keep blood pumping.

Live365.com is a pretty good place to get some Internet Radio. They have radio ads though, unless you pay for the Premium Service or whatever. But you can listen to 95% of the stations for free.

If you're into Japanese music, you can always go to JapanaRadio.com, they play J-Rock, J-Pop, Eurobeat and a few other things.

I've always enjoyed christianrock.net . It's even based in Springfield and was started by one of the CIS professors who works at SMS

vh1.com has a lot of variety. also lauch.yahoo.com but their site is down sometimes. moontaxi.com isn't too bad either.

?

Shannon McMurtrey is the guy who started it. I haven't had any CIS classes, so I don't know who the "dweeb" who won't let you wear hats is...

thanks guys.

i'm not too much into the japanese stuff, though i have run past a killer techno-style track or two from the good ole' nippon...

havent tried moontaxi yet, and the computer i've got in my [shared] "office" rejected the live365 player. BUT the vh1 player has been kickass so far. every once in a while they'll throw something retarded into the playlist, but it's definitely a whole lot better than what i had originally come up with.

http://www.shoutcast.com is the best internet radio hands down. Streams to winamp and to xmms, among others.
