Drawing Nekkid People

Post by Frank Castle »

Anybody here ever draw nudes in the annex? It's wierd. Everybody is acting all serious while there is this nekkid person in the room. The class is doing their best not to look at the person, while s/he is usually doing his/her best not to look nervous. Most of the time the models seem pretty confident. However, on occassion we get someone who has clearly never done it before and looks pretty freaked out.

You'd think it would be all about the physique, but it isn't. One girl who models regularly is plus-size, and she is very comfortable as she lies there in front of the class. And there was another girl--strong physique, good-looking, but she started to model a multi-session pose and didn't come back to finish it the next day. She couldn't handle it. She had breast implants. I wonder if that had something to do with it.

Then, there are those who are way too comfortable. There is this hairly old guy who walks around during breaks in his speedo, talking to the students. And you definitely do not want the person who is lying there nekkid to start talking to you. When you're working, it can freak you out.

Some of the students suck. I saw one girl do a large-scale drawing of the model's chest. It was the most comical-looking piece of crap I ever did see. There I go getting all negative again. But you can't really point out to someone that her drawing is crap; it would be considered rude. So, I just talk about them behind their backs. Heh.

You watch staged drawing classes on tv and it's never like the real thing. Yeah, the teachers are artsy fartsy, but not how you'd expect. And the expectations are completely different. Still, I wonder what Drury's art program is like.

That hairy old man that you mentioned reminded me of Will Ferrell doing his nude modeling on a skit that the SNL crew created. I'm sure everyone remembers if they watched snl quite a bit through-out the years. Will Ferrell is playing the part of an old bum who likes to tell the art students how being naked makes him feel while in front of all of them. Some may considered it gross, and maybe it was, but funny. I'm sure if a person had to witness it, it would be a traumatic event and you could never get the
image out of your mind. The funny line that Will Ferrell said was, "Oh somebody just woke up". I'm not for sure if this happen in the skit, but it seemed like Will Ferrell's charactor ejaculated if front of the art students. Because I remember the class going ewwwww.... Well, I think I remember that happening. It has been so long since I seen that episode.

What happen to SNL? They use to create skits like "MADTV" are doing now, and now they can't create anything that makes a person want to continue watching. I turn it on NBC on some Saturday nights, whenever I can think to turn it on there, but I find it never catchy, but rather boring and I turn it to a more interesting show. I wish they could get a bunch of first rate actors and actresses. I mean they had a first rate crew for many years, starting with Dan Akroyd, John Belushi, Bill Murray, Steve Martin, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, (Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, David Spade, Rob Scheider), Jimmy Fallon, Tim Meadows, Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch, and oh year Will Farrell and Cheri O'Teri. I'm sure their is many more. Oh yeah Chevy Chase. I'm not for sure if John Candy was a cast crew or not, I know he made many appearances on the SNL show, just don't know if he was part of the snl show roster.

Those are the past snl crew that I really enjoyed watching. I guess they are trying something new, trying to reinvent themselves to something newer, supposely greater entertainment, and a whole new look for comedy on television. Maybe someday SNL will have born stars in the business. I haven't watched it in so long so I don't know who the casting crew are. But I know they aren't as entertaining as the old crew that I listed.

Anyway, I just wanted to bring up that Will Ferrell skit when he was playing as a old hairy naked man who said perverted things to the class sounded a lot like the old man that you were describing in your art class. I guess their has been many cases where an old hairy man wanted to be drawn by art students. Well, according to SNL and you. I'm sure their was an incident that happen in an art class and SNL cast read about it and then wrote about it. Although, I'm sure they stretched the truth to make it more entertaining.

acutally john candy was on the canadian sketch show SCTV. Anyways, I rather enjoy saturday night live, I think the humor is kind of changed in a way. Tina Fey is the hottest thing on the planet, in my opinion anyways. I think she's a pretty smart writer with good ideas, but the talent isn't there to execute. Jimmy is good, so is Horatio when he's not drunk. I also think that Fred Armesen has alot of potential, he's funny, but he just has honed his art enough yet (i.e. the Prince Show is a great sketch.) Also I think Ratchel Dratch might be the funniest character comedian I've ever seen. She did a sketch called Debbie Downer that made me laugh so hard I peed alittle. Anyways, yeah, most of the cast is worthless, even... can't remember his name... guy who does Bill Clinton, he's really kinda lost his edge too. I don't know what's happening, I think people are making SNL into a career. BTW, Jimmy Fallon is gone as of this last season, that's a blow to a cast that's loosing there edge.

Now that you mentioned John Candy being on SCTV, I remember reading about that. It seems that all the past snl cast had cool charactors. Charactor in a person is something that I really like. I guess charactor is what is missing in the new snl episodes. I wish they would spend more time turning a person into somebody that the audience likes to watch instead of focusing the majority of the time on the story. The story is important, no doubt, but I think the charactors in the story is what makes or breaks the story.

Well, I think that is what Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Chevy Chase, Dan Akroyd, Steve Martin, and all the rest of the awesome past cast had.

I think Darrell Hammond played Clinton. However, their was one epidsode where many of the snl cast tried out for the Clinton part, as a skit. I think their was Will Ferrell, Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, and lastly was Tim Meadows. Tim Meadows said, I'm not going to get the part am I.

I think another problem with snl is, the writers are not having fun as they once did. From the 70's on up to 1997, you can tell that everyone had fun. But, I agree with you, that I think they are trying to make snl more professional and make it more of a career. I just wished they would get writers that enjoyed writing, and thought writing is fun. In Adam Sandler's films, you can tell he has fun making the film. And all of Adam Sandler's friends in the film industry has fun and enjoy what they do. I believe that when the creator of some product or thing is enjoying and loving what they are doing, then people are going to enjoy it too. But if a person becomes too serious and tries too hard when making something, in my mind, they are only setting their-selves up for a let-down.

However, I do know that it is difficult to come up with material that is appropiate for television viewing because of those damn activist that keeps on adding more and more rules to what can be broadcasted and what can not be.

I wish television writers had more freedom to write about whatever. I'm not for sure where that would go, but I'm sure it would really help snl ratings out. And plus, if writers for television shows could do anything they want, then Howard Stern wouldn't lose millions of dollars just because of some nudity and some language.

Letting writers write about whatever they want wouldn't really hurt anything. If parents didn't want their children watching a particular program then they could either update their old television to a new television that has parental control options, or buy a parental control receiver and start controlling what kids are watching.

With Tivo and the V-chip, censoring shouldn't be an issue. Adults can let tivo record all those bad comedy, romance, horror flicks, and whatever else is too much for kid's eyes and only watch them when the kids are not in the room.

It really sucks when your watching a movie on tbs or another network and instead of someone calling another person a asshole, they throw in the word donkey. It seems like they try to find the stupidiest cleaniest word that points to the filthy word and uses it. They might as well not say anything at all. But silenting out a part gets extremely annoying when your watching a movie that has many offensive words in it.

I just wanted to add, it sucks to hear that Jimmy Fallon left snl. I really loved the acoustic parodies that he did. In a way, I actually liked the music that Jimmy Fallon created a lot better than the original song. I think the reason for this was, Jimmy Fallon was having fun when he wrote the song. The lyrics were fun, and the music was fun to listen to.

I also liked the, Nick Burns skit.

He's Nick Burns the company's computer guy
He'll fix your computer but
Then he is going to make fun of you.

Oh yeah, I also agree with you on Tina Fey is very hot. The last time I watched snl, she was the hottest. Well, in the words of "Bobby Fleet and his band with the beat", I really dig Tina Fey's looks.

Bobby Fleet and the band with the beat was a band on the "Andy Griffith Show", where the hillbilly rock 'n roll guitarist that always gets arrested for disturbing the peace gets hired on to play with the Bobby Fleet's band.

Actually, I do remember one person in the class that could have been a mole for the snl writing staff. He kept pointing at the old guy's one remaining testicle, he'd giggle, and then frantically scribble something down on a piece of paper. I also think I heard him say "We can use that!!!" under his breath.

Now that I think about it, it sort of bothers me that that snl wouldn't pay the old guy a royalty for his inpiration. Will Farrel's sketch served up the yucks but it's as though he deserved all the credit for it. Old hairy guys with one testicle, wearing speedos don't come along everyday. He deserves, at the very least, a donut. Or a new speedo.

I enjoyed it when Nick Burns said "LOL" out loud.

Fred Armesan will definitely come into his own. His Prince impersonation is pretty amusing. His old guy playing the drums is also funny, but too bad it was more a supporting act for Kattan. He has performed some acts that I genuinely feel are too smart for the snl audience. His Native American comedian, I feel, would've been funny to a more culturally aware studio audience. Oh well.

All this talk of the nekkid dude in art class reminds me of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City(The VCPR radio station has a nekkid dude in it who talks about being nekkid). I have recently become addicted to that game again after not playing it for over a year. The reason for this is that I recently purchased the abysmal True Crime: Streets of LA. I beat that game and all the extras in a few days and took it back for a refund. Playing that crappy game with its horrible driving engine reminded me of how good Vice City is. So, I've been playing Vice City non-stop.

It's funny how eating a hamburger can make you crave a nice steak. Or eating something not-so-great can make you crave something great. Vice City doesn't necessarily do everything perfectly, but most of Vice City performs decently. The driving is excellent for a game of this type. And the hellicopter flying, once you get used to the machanics, is a lot of fun. The character control isn't too hot, but so many great things in the game make up for that.

yeah, when it comes to crappy character control, I don't think that any game sucks as bad as Silent Hill. But I've always felt that's one of the great parts, just cause when yer battling a mongoloidian huge ass monster, yer not supposed to evade every attack. I love silent hill cause yer playing a real person, and the controls reflect that. In the second one, you got that huge ass steak knife from the triangle head's domain, and it took a few seconds (literally) to heave it up. yeah, cause it's heavy, the guy's an average joe, not a superhero. And also, it wasn't all about stuff jumping out to scare you, it was ambience, it was mood, surrounding.

I remember in the first one in the school, it was great... you'd be in a room and the music would be terrible, like, you were about to walk into a room that was absolutely terrible, you'd walk in, and it would be empty, except a few little baby shadow monsters that couldn't hurt you, and it was completely silent. It freaked you out even more cause you never knew what was gonna come in the NEXT room. Best scary game series ever.

by the way... where'd this conversation start?
