Cool hobby - slacklining

Post by slacklinejoe »

It's kind of like tight rope walking except its on bouncy webbing and usually lower to the ground. I've taught 200+ people @ smsu the basics of the sport, check it out:

I've seen several people do that around campus... it looks interesting, but I'm sure my balance isn't good enough to do it.. :?

Actually, I've not met anyone who can't pick up at least the basics in 5 minutes and no one who's stuck with it for an afternoon hasn't mastered walking it full length. It's 99% mental - if you can stand on one leg, you can do spins and jumps on the thing.

The only prerequisit is wanting to try because I've seen everyone from 4 year olds to 77 year old grandmothers learn how - that and if my heavy and uncordinated self can do it, who can't?

It's a adrenaline rush in itself and really fun. Me and my friends like to play frisbee between lines.

At any rate, I'll be offering slackline workshops during the year through Natural High Club.

Ive seen people doing that, and everytime I do I have a very strong urge to go and shake thier rope.
Apparently there is a fine line between being a street performer and just being drunk in public...

why the heck would you weant to do that?
A man goes to a psychiatrist, and tells him "Doc, I think I have an obsession with sex." The doctor agrees to examine him and begins by showing him various drawings. First the doctor draws a square and asks the man to identify it. The man immediate ly says "sex". Next the doctor draws a circle, which the man again identifies as sex. Thirdly, the doctor draws a triangle, which of course the patient identifies as "sex". The doctor puts the drawings away and says to the patient, "Yes, I do believe t hat you have an obsession with sex." To which the man replies, "I'm not the one with the obsession! YOU'RE the one drawing all the dirty pictures!"
